Tales of The Civil War

Historical drama can be immediate and realistic. J R McRae’s characters still seem relevant to the lives of young people today. I recently illustrated a collection of stories based upon the devastation wreaked by the American Civil war.

In the style of…

Whilst not claiming (or confessing) to be a master forger, these are some illustrations commissioned by Fuller Smith and Turner PLC in the style of various artists. The artists whose styles I have so shamelessly pillaged are, in descending order, George Stubbs, Edmund Dulac the creator of the 1937 postage stamp and of course René Magritte.

Short Stories

The Australian author J R McRae writes wonderfully vivid stories for young people. There is never is never a conscious design process when I illustrate her stories. The image comes to life in my mind as soon as I read the words on the page.
